KUNDALINI YOGA AND RACHEL MC ADAMS

I was so pleasantly surprised to read in Vogue yesterday that Rachel McAdams one of my all time favorite actresses was as into Kundalini Yoga as I am! I studied other styles of yoga for years and then I walked into a Kundalini Yoga class in NYC taught by Ravi Singh & Ana Brett and was blown away. I had never experienced yoga like this before! It completley, like Rachel McAdams said, cleared the cobwebs, sparked my creativity and left my mind soothed as a light rain on a desert oasis! Not to mention, that it is a vigorous full body workout! I don't live in NYC anymore so don't have access to Ravi & Anas class as I imagine Rachel 'McAdams probably does, but I do have access to their wonderful Kundalini Yoga DVDs!

The DVDs are chock full of wisdom for mind and body and just so motivating and inspiring! What really sets their Kundalini Yoga apart for me though is the way they have made it acessible to the masses. Some of those sets in the ancient manuals are pretty strenuous but they have reworked some of the poses so that they make more sense to the body. Ana had years of Iyengar/ballet training so her form is flawless and her timing to give body cues to ensure your safe participation is spot on. I think that is in part what separates their Kundalini Yoga DVDs from others for me, is that attention to form and alignment that many Kundalini Yoga teachers gloss over. Lets face it, Kundalini Yoga was originally taught as an advanced form of yoga which was only given to those who had already mastered all other forms of yoga! Yoga Bhajan decided to bring it over to the US anyway because,he knew we needed it and he knew we don't have time to dedicate years to build up to it. Well Ravi & Ana have made genius DVDs that, even as a beginner, will give you a full body workout for body, mind and soul.

They have 17, soon to be 20 DVDs. These are my top 5 for beginners to intermediates:

Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Features the Basic Spinal Series and The 5 Tibetans.

Fat Free Yoga: Who ever knew losing weight and toning could be this much fun!

Yoga Beauty Body: Features the "Magnificent Seven," must-do poses for day to day beauty.

Journey Through the Chakras: A workout and soul journey all in one. What chakra are you in today?

Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Stretch Strengthen, & Be Stress Free: Best of both worlds: great deep stretching and everything you would expect from a great Kundalini Yoga workout!
